Nicholas Ridenour II (4th Great Grandfather to Carrie Voy Mahan) voyaged to America from Alsace, France (previously Germany) in 1739 and moved to Prince George's County in Maryland (Later renamed to Washington county after the Revolutionary War) with his friend Jonathan Hager. He procured a tract of land and named it Nicholas Ridenour's Pond. Nicholas and Jon also founded Hagerstown, Maryland.
Three years later Nicholas (presumably) built a house on that same tract of land near Hagerstown in 1742. The house has been added to and refurbished over the years and was named Pike Hall.
Here's a write-up about Pike Hall and some of it's sordid history.
Apparently Pike hall was sold in 2022. Another great description of it here on Zillow.
Here's a video of the inside.
Here it is on Google Maps

To my surprise, much research has been done on the Ridenours, there several books full of information on the Ridenours going back to Switzerland in the 1500s and later to Alsace on the border of France and Germany (which often moved). Our ancestors may have technically been from France but they were considered Palatines which are German speaking people that migrated to America in the 17th-18th centuries.
I pulled the stories out of "Ancesters Are Forever" by Melvin Ridenour for easier reading. View/Download HERE.
